Kato Trappers, a multifaceted creative force, recently joined the team at One Inch Whale as a Graphic Designer. Her background in art and culture, paired with her passion for visual communication, adds a unique value to her work. As the right hand of Karine Steculorum, Kato is fully engaged
in all visual projects. She enjoys diving into the world of semiotics, where her artistic perspective brings a fresh approach to packaging concepts and other visual expressions. “I love analyzing the deeper meanings behind images to add more value to the creations we develop,” she shares.
It feels like a place where I can strategically channel my creativity.
Kato’s journey at One Inch Whale began naturally. Her initial connection with Karine started through various artistic projects, beginning with designing an art book. Her creative talents were soon utilized for broader visual work, leading to a professional collaboration with iVisual. Finally, the acquisition of iVisual Services by One Inch Whale officially brought her onto the team. “The transition to One Inch Whale felt natural,” she says. “It feels like a place where I can strategically channel my creativity.”
Outside of work, Kato seeks inspiration in the cultural and artistic world. Whether it’s at a concert, exhibition or during her hunt for unique second-hand finds, she loves gathering new stimuli and creative ideas. She integrates these cultural influences not only in her work at One Inch Whale but
also in her own artistic projects. As the founder of the collective Het Banquet, she creates artistic edible installations - a form of art that allows her to blend her love for art and design with a touch of adventure. “It gives me the freedom to create in a different way, without limitations.”
Stopping halfway is not an option. Lukewarm is no good.
What defines Kato is her curiosity and desire to keep moving forward. Whether working on a new design for a client, diving into a semiotic analysis or searching for that unique item at a flea market - she approaches it all with dedication. “I believe in tackling everything you do with passion. Stopping halfway is not an option for me. Lukewarm is no good.” And that makes her an indispensable asset at One Inch Whale, where she continuously finds new ways to utilize her talents.
