The One with the waves keep getting stronger

Five years ago, One Inch Whale began as a bold idea: challenging the status quo in strategy and communication. Today, it has grown into a global player in translating insights into impact, helping companies – from established brands to start-ups and SMEs – realise their ambitions and strengthen their market position. Based in Belgium, but with a worldwide mindset. This is the story of how a ripple turned into a tidal wave.

Impact without borders

The first pivotal moment in this five-year journey was the collaboration with a leading retail company. “That was the moment when everything came together,” Jasper recalls. “Analytical sharpness and strategic creativity merged, and the results were undeniable.” From that point onwards, One Inch Whale gained momentum, delivering countless projects where data was not just collected and analysed, but transformed into powerful strategies.

This impact is visible and tangible in the world around us. Products that, thanks to in-depth consumer research, earn their place on the shelves. Campaigns that, fuelled by thoughtful positioning, leave a lasting impression. Businesses that rediscover their brand story. Strategies that are not just devised, but truly felt - something Wim and Jasper are particularly proud of. It’s about transformation and creating lasting change. The fact that clients keep coming back underscores the relevance One Inch Whale brings to the table.

Strategy with grit

“It’s not just about collecting data; it’s about driving transformation,” says Wim. One Inch Whale dares to ask sharp questions and challenge conventional marketing approaches. This makes the

company more than just an advisor – it’s a true sparring partner. “What stays with me is how clients approach One Inch Whale to discuss strategic challenges, even when there’s no immediate project attached. These in-depth discussions and the provocative nature of our propositions and reporting lead to partnerships, proving the strength of our approach.”

Jasper adds: “The best moments? When a client says, ‘I’ve never seen this before.’ It’s not just about insights; it’s about how they are applied. Strategy should be not only smart but also tangible and actionable.” All of this comes together in impactful projects where psychology, data, and visual communication converge to truly influence consumer behaviour.

Big and small waves, with equally impact

Impact is about more than just growth and revenue. One Inch Whale is also committed to societal progress, from sustainable initiatives to inclusive brand strategies. “The projects that truly mean something – not just for brands but for people and planet – that’s where our pride lies,” says Wim. Whether it’s sustainability, inclusivity or community-driven initiatives, the belief remains the same: strategic thinking extends far beyond commercial success.

And impactful projects deserve lasting memories. That’s why, for years, One Inch Whale adopted a whale for every successful project. A small gesture, but a meaningful way to give back to the planet. In 2025, the company took it a step further – not just an adoption, but a whale of its own: Keiko. A living

symbol of the fact that impact doesn’t stop at a project or a client but extends to the deepest oceans. The ultimate dream? To one day meet Keiko in person on an overseas team-building trip.

Beyond the horizon

Those who make waves must also dare to swim against the tide. “Not every idea is embraced immediately,” Jasper reflects. “We often hear: ‘But this is how we’ve always done it.’ That’s exactly where our role comes in: not just in delivering insights, but in presenting a compelling new narrative. No nodding along, but daring to do things differently to generate real impact.”

Now, with five years of impact behind them and a growing portfolio of transformative projects, One Inch Whale is ready for the next phase. “The ambition remains to push boundaries, experiment and drive change,” says Wim. “We continue to lead in AI integration and strengthen our agility to respond faster and better to evolving markets. Our focus is on impactful, hyper-personalised insights. No standard reports, no one-size-fits-all solutions. With a strong senior team and the right balance between technology and a human-centred approach, we ensure our clients always get the best solution.”

The waves being made are only getting stronger. What started as a ripple has become a current of transformation. And this is just the beginning.
