Some people leave a lasting impression. Others leave, explore the world, collect a few new experiences, and find their way right back to where it all started. For Klara, it's a little bit of both. After spending last summer as an intern at One Inch Whale, she's back in our pod, this time as a full-fledged team member. One year older, one Master's degree richer, and with a suitcase full of international experiences, she's ready to make some new waves as a Strategy & Insights Lead.
From summer intern to familiar face
If Klara looks familiar, that's because she is! In the summer of 2025, we welcomed her as a curious Business Engineering student, eager to discover the world of strategic innovation. Fast-forward one year, and quite a lot has changed.
Klara has officially graduated from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel with a Master's degree in Business Engineering, specialising in international entrepreneurship and strategy. And she didn't just graduate: she also received the Solvay Merit Academic Prize for the Master in Business Engineering, recognising her outstanding academic performance. Not that we're surprised, knowing Klara's drive to always go that extra inch!
But before trading student life for working life, she had one more adventure up her sleeve. As part of her university's annual Trade Mission, she travelled to India, where she explored market expansion opportunities for a Belgian company. Through interviews and meetings with industry stakeholders, she gathered
insights into the Indian market's potential. A pretty good warm-up for a career in strategic innovation, if you ask us!
Some currents are worth following twice
Not every internship turns into a job. And not every intern is eager to return. So what made Klara decide to dive back into our waters?
For her, the answer was simple: the people, the opportunities, and the variety. "My internship at One Inch Whale was a real success. The team made me feel welcome, and I was given so many opportunities to learn and contribute. That showed me this was a place where I could really grow."
And after her first month as an official team member, she's happy to report that the feeling hasn't changed. The variety of projects, opportunities to learn and close-knit team give her plenty of energy. Not to mention the office days, where there's always room for a little fun between the hard work.
Never settling for just good enough
Ask Klara to describe herself, and three things quickly become clear: she's curious, she's always on the move and she's not someone who easily settles for "good enough".
Whether she's exploring a new country, taking on a challenge or diving into an unfamiliar project, Klara likes to push herself beyond what she already knows. A mindset that fits right in at One Inch Whale, where curiosity and challenging the status quo are part of our DNA.
Her ambition? To keep learning, take on more responsibility and make a meaningful impact in the world of strategic innovation. Because making waves doesn't always mean making the biggest splash. Sometimes, it's about continuously challenging yourself to go one inch further.
leading her scouts. And when she's not busy with either, she's always up for a cosy coffee date, a good brunch or some quality time with friends and family.
There's also one particularly important character in her life: Toulouse, her cat and, according to Klara, her absolute best friend. Whether Toulouse feels the same way remains a subject of debate.
And then there's her love for exploring the world. After an Erasmus exchange in Madrid and a month in India, the travel bug has definitely bitten. Next on her bucket list? Perhaps a big adventure in South America.
New horizons ahead, but for now, we're happy to have her back on board. Welcome back, Klara!
