A week ago, we shared that One Inch Whale had adopted its own whale. But this isn’t just any whale. It is CRC-10749, a remarkable mammal known for its resilience, adaptability and long-documented presence in marine research. Still, one thing was missing: a name. To mark International Whale Day, we turned to the public to help us decide. And now, the people have spoken: meet Keiko!
From the very beginning, Keiko was our favourite. Now, that choice has been echoed by the public. This perfectly aligns with our way of working. At One Inch Whale, we believe in putting the consumer at the centre, using research to validate insights and guide decisions. This time, we put that belief into practice in a different way, letting the public confirm what we already felt was the right fit.
Some things are just meant to be. CRC-10749 isn’t just any whale. It’s a survivor, a traveller and a familiar face in the marine world. Tracked since 1993, it has been spotted across different regions, proving its adaptability and resilience. And with its frequent sightings, CRC-10749 is one of the most well-
documented whales in the research community. In many ways, it embodies what One Inch Whale stands for: longevity, the ability to navigate changing waters and a strong presence that leaves a lasting impact.
The name Keiko was not chosen at random. It refers to the famous orca from Free Willy, whose life story carries important lessons. Also for purpose-driven businesses. Much like Keiko’s journey, our approach reflects the power of authenticity, purposeful action and storytelling.

Keep it real
Keiko’s story highlights how crucial credibility is: his release was only possible through a transparent and genuine effort. Likewise, we stay true to our values and ensure our actions support our narrative. One Inch Whale builds trust by doing what we promise: helping businesses understand market demands and align their strategies accordingly.
-
Make waves, not just statements
Keiko’s journey required planning, collaboration and a clear strategy, the very same principles we apply in our work with clients. A strong mission without thoughtful execution rarely leads to real change. That’s why we ensure our insights are not just inspiring but also strategically and measurably impactful.

Tell stories that stick (like Barnacles)
Keiko became a global symbol thanks to a compelling story. We believe that storytelling does more than evoke emotion; it drives real behavioural change. Our approach focuses on turning complex analyses into engaging, accessible narratives that help businesses connect with and influence their customers.
More than just a pretty fin: Keiko – A name with depth
Naming our whale is more than a symbolic gesture. It reflects our core values. Our whale adoptions reinforce our commitment to sustainability and conscious decision-making. Just as Keiko left a lasting impact, we strive to help businesses go beyond surface-level changes and create meaningful, lasting transformations.
In essence, Keiko’s story is a reminder that businesses with a purpose must balance heart with strategy, intention with execution and symbolism with sustainable change.
Welcome, Keiko! Here’s to even more inspiring insights and lasting impact. From ripples to waves, let’s keep exploring new horizons together.
